Mitchell Starc got four wickets as a restrained
bowling execution assisted the Kolkata Knight Riders seal a 24-run triumph over
the Mumbai Indians in the Indian Chief Association on Friday. Pursuing a less
than impressive 170, Mumbai lost wickets at standard stretches to be bowled out
for 145 out of 18.5 overs at the Wankhede Arena.
Suryakumar Yadav raised trusts with a 35-ball
56, but his excusal in the sixteenth overshifted the scales for Kolkata. This
was Kolkata's first success at the Wankhede ground in quite a while and seventh
from 10 games this season. Mumbai drooped to a 10th position in the 10-group
contest after their eighth misfortune in 11 games.
Kolkata are put second and all around ready to
come to the end of the season games. "Clearly we were unable to shape
organizations and continued to lose wickets," said Mumbai captain Hardik
Pandya. "It will take some time to respond to a lot of questions. Yet, for
the present, not much to say." Starc flattened the leg-stump of Ishan
Kishan (13) and Varun Chakravarthy sent back Naman Dhir (11) to give Mumbai a
rocky start.
The host group got one more enormous shock when
Rohit Sharma, who came in as an effect sub, miscued a shot to be gotten off
Sunil Narine for 11. To the dismay of the large home crowd, Pandya was ruled
out, continuing his poor form.

Tim David added 24 runs, but Kolkata did a good job of controlling the
five-time champions. Before being put into bat, Kolkata lost five quick
wickets, including the prolific Phil Salt (five) and skipper Shreyas Iyer
(six). Wobbling at 57-5, Venkatesh Iyer (70) and influence sub Manish Pandey
(42) steadied Kolkata with a 83-run stand and guaranteed a good complete on the
board. Iyer, who hit hundred years at a similar ground last season, hit three
sixes and six fours in his battling 52-ball thump. "It's an incredibly
nice sentiment, since we haven't succeeded at Wankhede for a very long time,"
said Kolkata's Varun Chakravarthy.
